This afternoon we decided that as we had worked so hard all week we could have some maths game fun!

Last week we attended the Mini 7s tournament in Bekan , we had so much fun playing football and meeting up with all our friends.
This month we've been learning about the Stone Age. We read all about the discovery of the cave paintings at Altamira in Spain and decided to have a go ourselves. Don't they look great !
This morning Yating surprised us with some delicious Chinese food. Yating cooked us some lovely rice and tofu and brewed us a lovely cup of chai tea.
It was one of the best mornings at school !

Spring is truly on the way when we start football training in the yard, we are looking forward to all the fun over the coming months.

We've been learning about Ancient Egypt. We did lots of work , created our our ancient scrolls written in papyrus and then crowned ourselves Pharaohs!
It was Science Week this week. Thanks to Mayo Science and Technology we had lots ot experiments to try this week and we did something fun and exciting every day .
This week Zane returned to our school, we were thrilled to see her !
She is teaching our 3rd and 4th class pupils how to play the ukulele.
We love it!
We all love writing in our classroom. We write poems, stories, reports, book reviews and lots of free writing too !
We work very hard in school every day and sometimes our work is so good that it makes it to our wow wall .......I wonder who's work will appear next ??
This week we've been learning about sound in science.
We made string telephones and had fun in the yard telling jokes, riddles and stories to each other.
We all attended the East Mayo Cross Country Races this month. We met up with classmates from all the local schools and we had a really enjoyable morning.
Some of us came home winners!!

What a great day for our annual sports day. Amazing weather throughout the day for all our track and field events. With all our events, from shot put to javelin, sprints & novelty races, who could resist a water fight and an ice cream after the rivalry of the day. Well done to all our students.
Céilí Ukulele
Today we all travelled to the Royal Theatre and took part in the Young Musicians of Mayo concert. We've been learning lots of ukulele tunes all year in our classroom and it was brilliant to bring them all to the stage for all our parents and friends to enjoy. We had so much fun!
We have been learning all about forces this week and as the sun was shining so brightly we decided to take our learning outside.
We decided to try and make catapults and see how accurate was our aim........science is fun in the sun !

We have been training with Anna every Friday since January for our Splash and Dash which took place today. Thanks to Mayo Sports Partnership and Triathlon Ireland we travelled to Lough Lannagh and swam in the pool and then ran around Lough Lannagh........we were really nervous beforehand but it ended up being so much fun...........we may even do a longer one next time!!
Now time to prepare for the duathlon.......
It's World Book Day !!!!! We love reading in our classroom, we read every day and often take books from our school library. We dressed up as some of our favourite books ..................can you guess who we are????????
As we continue to prepare for our duathlon we practised our transitions in the yard...it was hard but very very enjoyable !!!!!
Lent is fast approaching and so today we decided to treat ourselves with a pancake .................or two !!! Some of us went to town with toppings but they were all delicious, thanks to our wonderful chefs Isla and Fiona !
For Lent we have been kindness calendars and this year we have decided to try and spread a little kindness every day .
Our 5th and 6th class have been busy working away all year on the wonderful Junior Entrepreneur programme and we are nearly ready to launch our fitness calendars ! Keep an eye on our social media for more updates!
We've been learning about mountains, volcanoes, rocks and soils at school. Today we made volcanoes and next week we will make them explode using vinegar and bread soda.......we're so excited !!

Allina Ndebele
This week we studied the art of Allina Ndebele. After looking at some of her colourful prints we decided to create our own colourful art work.
Today is school we made some calendars for this New Year. We printed on each month and then added some special occasions we always look forward to.
Today at school we made Christmas dinner. It is always one of the highlights of our year and we all had second or even third helpings !
Tonight we performed our Christmas play " Children of the World " . We have been working on it for weeks and we were really looking forward to it. Here are some pictures of all the fun we had.
We love working with clay. We created these lovely pots last Friday and decorated them today, we used all our creativity to come up with some interesting designs, now we are ready to fill them with jellies and watch the Toy Show!
We were so excited at school today, it's Toy Show Friday !!! Thank Crunchie , we had a little treat to enjoy with the show ......only a few more hours!
Today we did some clay work. We made coil pots, it wasn't as tricky as we thought it was going to be. We're going to paint them next week.
This week was Science Week. We did an experiment every day. We had so much fun!
As winter approaches we know that we need a lot more vitamins and nutrients to stave off those nasty colds and bugs. We decided to make some smoothies at school today to help boost our immunity. They were delicious!

It is soon time for trick or treating and we are busy preparing to frighten everyone we meet ! We designed and decorated some Halloween masks at school this week and they ended up so spooky but so well decorated ! The only question remains .....who is behind each mask ????
We've been learning about the different genres of writing and we spent some time on report writing. We used our ipads to research a topic that we were interested in. Here are the booklets we created ....hope you enjoy!
We've been so busy and working so hard this term that we decided it was time for a Halloween treat! We made some delicious chocolate apples and even had enough to share with the Junior Room. They were scrumptious!
Thanks to Jerry from Mayo Safe Cycling for coming to school to teach us all how to be safe on our bikes. We learned lots and played games, can't wait until next week!
Last Thursday we travelled to Mellet's Hill in Swinford to take part in the East Mayo Cross Country meet for this year. We all took part and did our best. We really enjoyed our day out and some of us came home with medals around our necks and plans to race again !

We have been learning all about procedural writing. This week we decided to learn how to make an origami frog and then we wrote up a procedural piece all about how to do this fun activity !
Today was Sports Day , one of the most popular days in our school calendar. We got started first thing this morning and had sprints, three legged races, welly throwing, sack races and lots more!
Then we got on a bus and headed into Swinford Amenity Pitch where we played Culmore NS in both gaelic and soccer. It was so great to meet up with all our friends but I think the ice cream might have been the highlight of a great day out !
In this month's edition of Primary Planet look out for an article written by Katelyn and Zoey all about their recent All Ireland medal winning competition. The two students wrote a wonderful piece all about their winning weekend! Well done girls and happy reading everyone!
On Thursday May 26th we all packed up our ukuleles and headed off to the Royal Theatre in Castlebar to meet up with hundreds of young musicians who have been learning the ukulele all year. Thanks to Music Generation for a fabulous night, the atmosphere was electric and it is a night we will never forget!
Congratulations to all these amazing students on making their confirmation this weekend. We are so proud of all of you. Thanks to our amazing choir too, such beautiful singing. Congratulations to Isla, Siobhan and Jane who have lots to celebrate after their very successful weekend at Fleadh Cheoil Mhaigh Eo in Achill. They are now looking forward to the Connacht finals in Sligo in June, we wish them all the best luck, we know they'll be fantastic !
Congratulations also to Jane and Lottie who did so well in the Mayo County Athletic Championships this weekend. They worked so hard all winter and now have their medals to be proud of and the Connacht finals to look forward to. We wish them all the luck in the world, we know that they will do great too !

On Friday we went to a blitz at Swinford Amenity Park. It was so much fun. We played against our local schools, had some fun on a lovely, sunny day and sharpened our ball skills. It was a great day out !

For the past few weeks we have been working on these paper mache creations! We designed , planned and created these masterpieces...take a look at our great work.
This week we learned all about electricity in our classroom. We built work simple and parallel circuits. We really enjoyed this , we learned all about how to be safe around electricity and then we designed and built lighthouses. It was really fun!

Wow ! We had such a busy week at school. When we arrived to school on Monday we had a surprise waiting for us .... a climbing wall had been erected over the weekend. It was so much fun every playtime.
On Tuesday we made St. Brigid's crosses to honour St.Brigid. We are learning about Ancient Egypt so we learned to create a powerpoint presentation and on Friday we presented our work to our classmates.
We made dioramas and work in pairs in our pods on these, they looked fantastic !

We are deep into our Christmas preparations in our classroom at this stage. During this Christmas season we are doing a daily act of kindness at school. We really enjoy counting down the days and seeing what is on our calendar every day.
On Thursday we made a lovely pasta dish at school. We used some lovely fresh ingredients to make a delicious tomato pasta sauce, we cooked three different pasta shapes and served a hot lunch to all our schoolmates. They said the sauce was amazing !! What a great day in our school kitchen !

This week we are learning about the Normans in Ireland. As we were learning about their way of life we learned about how and where they lived. We decided to make a motte and bailey in class. Here are some that we made. We aren’t all finished yet so keep an eye out for more pictures.
Friday was dress up day and our pupils really put their thinking caps on, dreamed up some very scary costumes and came to school looking very frightening indeed! Can you guess who is hiding behind each costume ?
This week we are learning about plants and how they eat and drink. We did some experiments in the classroom and here some pictures of the experiments and our classwork.
On Friday we had our first ukulele lesson. We each got a new ukulele and we are really looking forward to learning lots of tunes and songs this year. We decided to decorate our ukulele cases this afternoon.....we really enjoyed designing each case.
